I am so sad to hear of this news. I have such fond memories of Mrs.Mathews and the church choir. The way she played the organ and her love of music will always be remembered. Her first husband (Harvey Mathew) was also very dear to me in that he often included me in his "Father Daughter" nights at the Lions Hall. Trevor too was always so kind. She was a special soul and I will not forget her.

Sorry I can't come to Ridgeway for the services. I will always remember the joy of being part of the ministry of music at the Ridgeway Memorial United church under the leadership of your mother. She brought out the best in us. She was a great lady. Marjorie Strath (Mrs. Lewis)

Joan was one of the stalwarts in the community of Ridgeway, and a sort of matriarch within our once closely-knit neighbourhood on Prospect Point Road. She is among my many fond childhood memories especially, and of her mother, Nan Evans, Harvey, and later Trevor. Much tolerance was shown to we unruly youngsters, for which we are grateful to this day. Our most sincere sympathy goes out to the family. God's blessings and comfort.
