Obituary of Douglas Wreaks

Douglas Wayne Wreaks, age 67, died on April 4, 2024, in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Doug is survived by his 2 brothers Larry Wreaks and Barry Wreaks as well as his 2 sisters Lyn Atherton and Brenda Bone.

Doug was a father to his children, Casey Wreaks, Chris Wreaks, Jessica Foster, Brandon Wreaks, Shai Anne Meskis. Grandpa to several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father Fred Atherton and his mother Ruth Wreaks, as well as his older brother Fred Wreaks and younger brother Steve Wreaks.

Doug was born on April 22, 1956, in Brantford, Ontario. He lived and spent most of his life in Fort Erie, this is where he met and married his first wife. He then later moved to Niagara Falls where he spent the rest of his adult life.

He will be remembered as a man with a good heart. He would be willing to help any and all who reached out even if it meant that he would go without. Later in life Doug would take to reaching out and helping the homeless.

Visitation will be held at Williams Funeral Services, 722 Ridge Rd N., Ridgeway, on Tuesday, April 16, from, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM,  followed by a Service at 12pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Doug’s ashes will be buried at Greenwood Cemetery, Fort Erie following the service. Rev. Paul Hilsden will officiate, Thank you Reverand. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Doug's life. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert and Unit C nurses, Dr. Masood and ICU nurses and staff at GNGH for the work they did to help our father as well as keep him comfortable. We encourage you to make donations to both the local shelters in your area or a donation to Diabetes Association of Canada, something our father would have appreciated.
