Obituary of Casey Bruyns

Casey Bruyns, C.A.

Sadly, the family of Casey Bruyns announces his passing on February 29, 2024 at the Douglas Memorial Hospital, Fort Erie. He tried very hard to stay with us, but it wasn’t meant to be.

Born in Hamilton, Casey became a “Beacher” when he married Ruth, 44 years ago.  He is survived by his beloved wife Ruth and by his two sons, of which he was so very proud, Casey (Terri-Ann) of Slave Lake Alberta, and Andrew (Kate and her daughter Cadence).  Also surviving are Casey’s sister Cathy (Steve Mullenger), niece Jennifer, nephew Greg,  and their families, brothers Henry (Clare) and Bart.  Brother-in-law of Clyde Threlfall (Darlene).  Also remembered by Glynis Kelly and Oliver Sibbald.  Casey adored his grandchildren Lucas and Tiffany, the lights of his life.  He was never too busy to play a game or read to them. Casey was predeceased by his parents Hendrina and Bart Bruyns and Clyde and Betty Threlfall.  His special Golden boy Charlie will miss his beach walks and climbing on his lap for afternoon naps.

Casey was the long time business partner of Robert Leadley in their firm Leadley Bruyns Chartered Accountants.  He enjoyed his job immensely!    Casey was also a 40 year member of the Ridgeway Lions club, proudly serving his community.

He also loved travelling with Ruth, to the east coast and west coast. Annual trips to Florida and Nassau were very special to them.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Williams Funeral Services, 722 Ridge Rd. N.,Ridgeway.  Visitation will be on Monday March 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.  The funeral will be held on Tuesday March 5 at 11 a.m. in the Williams Funeral Chapel. Reception to follow at the Crystal Ridge Community Centre. If desired, donations in memory of Casey may be directed to the Ridgeway Lions Club to help those in our community and for their fundraising efforts for the future Hospice in Fort. Erie.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Baghlaf and staff at the Walker Family Cancer Center, and to our family physician, Dr. D. Rivers and staff who always provided us with the best of care and compassion along this journey.

Also, thank you to our family and friends who have helped us.  Your kindness will not be forgotten.
