Obituary of Audrey Bernice Royer

Royer McConnell, Audrey (nee Saylor)

May 4, 1928 – November 5, 2023

Peacefully in her sleep, Audrey passed away at the beautiful age of 95. After experiencing much loss in her years, she is finally reunited with her precious son Bobby, her first husband Harold McConnell, her daughter Carol, her second husband Gus Royer, her son-in-law Ron, her grandson Jim, and her grandson-in-law Mike.

Loving mom to Margaret (late Ron) Bardsley, Jim (Christine) McConnell and Linda McConnell. Adoring grandma to Tracy (Kevin) Morin, Janice (Mario) Ferrara, Elizabeth (Mark) Biggins, Karin (late Mike) Toth, Ronnie (Shauna) Sumbler, Bradley (Ashley) Sumbler, Kevin Sumbler, Cameron (Shannon) Fidler, Kelly Fidler and Tyler Laplante. In addition, Audrey was blessed with 20 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her nephew Don (Patricia) Frank. 

Audrey was an avid gardener, her gardens always full of life and meticulously maintained. Through the years she took on a love of canning, knitting and crafts; so many of us were gifted with her creations, a token of her love we will be able to cherish forever. Audrey enjoyed a good game of cards and a warm cup of tea, mostly at the same time but always with a good group of friends. Sweets were her weakness, there was always room for a chocolate or two. If you know Audrey, then you know of her Pomeranians. Those dogs were her babies, as was any other animal needing a safe place to live.  The same went for people, Audrey’s door always open. To summarize our mom and grandma seems impossible, she was everything; selfless, caring, a safe place to call home. She was our matriarch.  We will forever miss our warm conversations, her gentle way of passing on words of wisdom, and who can forget her cheek grabbing squishy kisses.

Arrangements entrusted to Williams Funeral Services, Ridgeway ON. A Private Family Graveside was held at Ridgeway Memorial Cemetery, where she was laid to rest beside her beloved Bobby and Harold. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ridgeway Legion, 228 S. Mill Street, Ridgeway., on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 1- 4 PM. All are welcome to attend.
