It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Shirley Agnes Sponarski.  Loving wife of 62 years to William (Bill) pre-deceased (2010).  Shirley was the daughter of the late Hugh and Cicely Mayne (nee Willis).   Wonderful mother to Mark (Bertha) Elora, Mari-lee Mlacak (David) LaSalle, Carol LaCivita (Pasquale “Pat”) Ridgeway.  Proud Grandmother of Melissa (Dan) Cyphers, Lauren Mlacak, and Alexandra LaCivita.  Great Grandmother to Camilla Cyphers and her Grand dog “Benny”.

Shirley was pre-deceased by her siblings/siblings in law Ivy and Jim Defroy (Windsor), Hugh and Ann Mayne (Barrie), Joan and Ron Haight (London), George Mayne (Windsor) (Survived by Jo-Anne).  Shirley leaves behind many nieces and nephews.  To Shirley the memories made with her family were everything.

Shirley was an active member of St. Mark’s by The Lake Church.  She especially loved her time with the ladies of the Altar Guild.  Shirley enjoyed singing her favourite hymns in the Church Choir. She also enjoyed time with her family and friends at Beach Grove Golf and Country Club where she was a long-time member.

A special “Thank-you” to the staff at Maple Park Lodge Retirement Home in Fort Erie.  Shirley was “Loved” by all the staff and was extremely well cared for.  Her family is thankful to everyone in the Blue Jay Wing, where Shirley lived for making her stay so comfortable.

As per her wishes, Shirley has been cremated.  A Church Service for Shirley will take place on August 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St Mark’s by The Lake Church.  A private service and entombment will take place later that afternoon.  Shirley and Bill will be buried at Windsor Memorial Gardens, Windsor, Ontario   Our thanks to Williams Funeral Services in Ridgeway, Ontario who were so helpful in following Mom’s wishes.  Mom and Dad have now been re-united.  If you so desire donations to St Mark’s by -the -Lake Building Fund in memory of Shirley would be appreciated.
