I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Peter..I have wonderful memories of spending time at their house as a child with my friend Cori. Darlene and Peter were incredibly warm, welcoming and generous people. It has been many decades since I saw Cori and her family, but I will never forget the special times I spent at my home away from home. Darlene, Cory and Steven. I was shocked to hear of Peter's passing from my brother Jim this morning. I still remember the teenage times when Peter asked you out and you said no. But love prevailed. Peter, so full of life, crazy sense of humour, a larger than life presence wherever he went. The world is a lesser place without him. Virtual hugs to you all. I do miss you. Love and hugs

This picture of Pete is in my first born son's baby book, taken July 26, 1997. Pete and Darlene were one of the first people I took him to meet at five days old. Pete was more than my Sensei. His passing fills me with sadness and my condolences go out to Darlene, Cori and Steve.

Sending my condolences to the entire Ruch family.I have many memories of Peter growing up in the South end. Peter always had a wonderful smile on his face and a big bear hug. Often I would hear him yell out JuneBug if we were out somewhere. He was truly one of a kind. He will be missed.

We are sad to hear of Pedro's passing. Our family always looked forward to seeing him at the beach in Mexico. He was kind and friendly to everyone. Our kids remember him fondly and how he taught them to boogie board. Darlene, we are thinking of you and your family ❤️.

My karate journey started in 2005, so I remember him as someone who shared his knowledge and experience in karate with unlimited generosity and humour to everyone of any rank. My recollection of Sensei Peter, whom I met a handful of times, is of a larger-than-life figure who touched a great many lives with his gentleness, his humble nature, and his kindly smile, and who made an enormously positive difference in the world. We remember Peter as a big lovable teddy bear with a wonderful sense of humour. He stopped at our house 35 years ago to see our first child after she was born. He held her in the palm of his hand and had us both laughing with his stories. He taught us both so much over the years and we are truly blessed to have had him in our lives.
