Obituary of Kirk McGlashan
It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Kirk McGlashan, surrounded by the love of his family, at home on Jan. 11, 2021 at 70 years of age. Kirk will be deeply missed by the love of his life Wendy, who will cherish the 51 years they had together. He was a loving father and mentor who’s legacy will live on forever through his children Tavis & Jan McGlashan and Meaghan & John Maracle. A proud Grandfather of Clayton, Malcolm, Caitlin and Stella who will miss his irreplaceable sense of humour and affection. He is also survived by mother Rhoda Peeler, and siblings Marsha & Charles Watts, Mark & Darla Peeler and Linda & Dan Dolan. He greatly loved and will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and extended family Jay and Jocie O’toole. Predeceased by father Gilbert Peeler (2019). He will be missed by his many friends, and the family will never forget the support and friendship that came from those like, Howard, Wilma, Alan, Brent, Jim, Derek and Steve. Kirk worked hard all of his life. He had many different jobs and ventures over the years, he spent the last 25+ years of his career at ACG in Stevensville where he made many long lasting friendships. He loved to explore the world and made many great memories over his numerous travels with Wendy, family and friends. He had a big outgoing personality and shared his passion for food and cooking with anyone who was willing to listen and eat. He doted on the menagerie of pets that managed to find sanctuary in his house, and sometimes people, over the years and they always provided him great companionship and comfort. Kirk began fostering an undying love for music in his youth that lasted his lifetime. He was an accomplished musician; he played with several bands starting in high school and into the 70’s until he decided to devote more time to his growing family. He continued to enjoy entertaining family and friends whenever the opportunity arose. Some of his happiest times of late were jamming in his music room with Joe, taking his mind away from the stresses of life.
Kirk and his family would like to send very special thanks to Dr. Scher, without whom they would not have been able to make his desire to pass at home possible. We are also thankful for the exceptional support, caring and kindness of his Nurses; Pat, Robin, Barbara and Alex, as well as the care giving of loving niece Samantha. Williams Funeral Services, Ridgeway entrusted with arrangements. Out of respect for the current Covid restrictions no service is planned at the moment but a celebration of life will happen as soon as possible.
