I've written this over and over for 3 days, so much to say. Dave was a great guy in so many ways. Someone I truly looked up to and admired. In every sense of the words, Dave was a great man. He knew what his priorities in life were and acted to attain them . His love of Shelley and Jesse being evident in every conversation we had. He always new what he wanted in life and made it happen from the time he met Shelley as a young man to his passing. No doubt in my mind, a quality he got from Uncle Chip and Aunt Mary. In my opinion Dave was forthright and sincere. People knew where they stood with him.
Shelley, the love you and Dave shared was absolutely incredible. Maria and I spoke of this love many times after visiting or getting together with the two of you. It is a love that is blunt, open, heartfelt and honest. The fact that Dave pushed on through this horrible disease for as long as he did was a testament to your love. Talk about being someone's rock, you personified that in every way. We would talk and you would list off medications and treatments without ever having to pause and think about what you were saying. Safe to say Dave's treatments were aided immensely by your care and love. To both you and Jesse, my door is always as open as heart is.
To Elizabeth and Cathy my heartfelt condolences to the two of you. It has been a tough two years. I hope with all my heart that you you get a break and have a few really good years together.
I will miss my cousin.
