Obituary of Carey Albert Huffman
It is with the heaviest hearts that we announce the passing of our wonderful Father Carey Albert Huffman who passed away August 22nd 2020 at the age of 61. Carey lived a very full life surrounded by many people who loved him. He was a competitive sportsman with many skills, especially in baseball. Everyone that had the privilege of experiencing Carey’s spirit began to immediately think of him as family.
Carey’s life began in Crystal Beach in 1959 sharing his time with the four brothers that he will be lovingly remembered by; Kenneth (Susan), Richard, Donny and Chris (Joyelle) as well as his many childhood friends who remained close in heart. He is predeceased by his parents Donald and June Kappler-Huffman as well as his stepfather Emil Kappler.
Carey shared his final years in St. Catharines with his devoted girlfriend Cindy Sandford who cared for him deeply. His time in Fort Erie was spent with his 3 loving children Danielle Pare-Hay, Carey-James and Lindsay Huffman who he will be cherished by forever and always alongside by their mother’s as well, Lisa Mann-Huffman and Karen Bird (predeceased). He is survived by his two step-granddaughters who knew him as “Papa Ogie” and his little grandbaby on the way from his son Carey-James which he was overly excited to meet. Carey will also be remembered by a long line of nieces, nephews and cousins. The list of friends that he had was monumental. He shared so many beautiful memories with each of them that they will all carry on. His legacy as ‘Ogre’ will thunder through everyone’s laughter.
A celebration of life will be taking place Monday May 31st 2021 at the Ridgeway Memorial Cemetery at 1pm. It will be followed with a gathering at the Royal Canadian Legion in Ridgeway ON at 228 S Mill St, Ridgeway ON.
