Amy was such a good friend to my mum, Kathy Jackson. They had some great times together at the Y and going for bike rides.

Amy would often attend my cycle classes at the Fort Erie Y,rarely missed one. I had not seen her for a while and learned that she had injured her hip. That didn't stop her !!!. A few short days later we looked out the window of the class and see her doing laps around the parking lot pushing a walker. Always a pleasant smile and friendly "how are you?" , every time you saw her without fail. It was a pleasure knowing her, rest in peace Amy.

Amy will always be remembered as an amazing woman with a beautiful spirit. I loved my mornings at the YMCA when you would read me my horoscope and tell me all your stories. You will be greatly missed by your YMCA family.

I remember first meeting Amy and Stan in 1965 when I became a member of the Skerrett family. They were so welcoming to me. Amy's smile and embrace made an impression. However I could just nod to her and smile. I could not understand a word she was saying. When Stan and Amy came to Canada they settled in Crystal Beach living in an apartment at Green Gables owned by Phil and Audrey Skerrett. As adopted members of the Skerrett clan, they were family and at all our parties and events. Over the years the bonds grew. Amy was a true friend. Have had more cups of tea than I can remember. As our children grew they were blessed with many wonderful memories too. If God puts angels on earth, he hand picked Amy.

Amy was one of the first ladies I met at the Y locker room just before my first Aquafit class. She was so sweet, introducing me to everyone and making sure I knew where to go and what to do. Over the years she helped me find every person we needed to help with our cottage. She was truly loved by me and my husband...we can still hear her calling "Anthony!" in her lovely English accent as she walked up to our deck bringing us an anniversary gift of flowers and mushy peas for me and a huge chocolate bar for him.
I'm so sad that covid 19 has kept us "over the river" as she would say, preventing me from seeing her one last time this spring. I will never forget her and the joy she brought to all of us. Plastic flowers, shower caps, cards for all occasions and genuine interest in everyone...that was Amy...Rest in Peace, you will be missed.

They say that Friends are the Family you Choose for Yourself... We are so grateful that generations ago, the Kings and Skerretts became family. So many fond memories... from Boxing Day parties, to Summer Picnics, Amy (and Stan) made it fun.
As a kid, I remember they had the best selection of pop, really good tasting chocolate and oh, those sausage rolls... In the summer Amy's Games - Badminton, Egg Toss and Shoe Find, were such fun.
As an adult, i got great delight whenever Amy would call me... my Caller ID, would announce "Call from King Stanley".. it always made me feel special, like a royal audience had been granted... It would make me grin every time...
I will miss those Royal calls.

Amy was a terrific lady, she also made me feel welcome when I joined the Y. Today at the former Y now the Boys and Girls Club we honoured Amy by wearing her signature shower cap in the pool. She never had a hair out of place!

I can only imagine her reunion with Stanley. Everyone loved Amy. she was my first friend when I moved to Fort Erie...her and Doris and Audrey took me over the river shopping...we hit 3 malls from one end to the other in 3 hours...Amy doing leg stretches on the escalator...I was whooped...found a massage chair in one store and sat down..."Sondra! We lost Sondra! Sondra! Sondra! Where are you?" echoed through the store. When she asked me what I needed (shopping) I told her a pair of winter boots for Kelsey...."What size?" "Six"...almost running behind these "seniors" we zoomed to I don't know where but right to the clearance rack and before I could even get there, she was presenting me with some great quality boots for an unbelievable price. I forget who bought the bed set in the gigantic square bag but I just had to help these poor old ladies and carry it...from one end of the mall to the other...I remember putting it on my head at one point with the concerned seniors..."are you okay?. And then we had to cross the border...she laid down the rules...this is what you will say Sondra...you just be quiet, and I will do the talking! OK then....
What a welcome to this town....what a joy to feel welcome and part of a group...oh God....she was dear....I don't think she ever knew how much her welcoming embrace meant to me... It took me 3 days to recover from that shopping trip but I sure loved this Amy character....so full of life.
Weeks later, exploring the Y, I end up upstairs looking at the plaques on the wall...and there she is...with a million km walked under her belt....or that's how I seen it...and Audrey and Doris were right up there with her....I laughed...who knew? No wonder I was wiped out...Amy inspired me to exercise, the connections through Aquafit, sharing our lives and friendships and she was at the centre...with a card for one who was sick, or who's husband died, or a get together with us all...she was central to our community at the Y, so welcoming, so considerate, so fun loving...but don't think you would win a debate with her....that was one strong willed woman, we tangled a couple times. But always remained friends.....how many laughs we have had, I'd say every time with her....and what a laugh she had...you could feel it, her laugh made me happy. I love you Amy, and I am blessed, truly blessed that you were in my life...God sent me an angel....until we meet again my friend, I love you Amy and you are forever a part of me. Xoxoxo

I first met Amy more than 15 years ago at the Y. I was impressed by her hours of walking and working out in the pool. She had such a vibrant personality, and was loved by all. This lovely lady will be greatly missed.
