I am very sad that my old friend has journeyed on.
Brad and I grew up on the same street in Vancouver. 1960. We started our long careers in music together and sat for hours in my backyard playing Beatles songs, singing our hearts out. Brad took guitar lessons and would show me what he learned. I have so many fond memories of our childhood together.
In 1974 I came out and spent a summer with him. It was then that he took me to the Carlisle Bluegrass festival where I first heard the music that would dominate most of my adult life as a fiddle player and maker of guitars and mandolins. Thanks Brad for that!
It was only in recent years that I started coming out to Ontario to visit my wife's family and reconnected with him. It was almost like 40 years apart meant nothing as we laughed at the old days and had some wonderful visits.
I wish to send my sincerest condolences to his children, his partner Patty Mountain, and all his family and siblings. RIP old friend.
