Obituary of Kenneth Barnhart

Barnhart, Kenneth George, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 April 9, 2020 at Douglas Memorial Hospital. He is predeceased by his wife Beverley (Ward), and his only child Lorna (Roy) Kinsella. He is survived by his brother and sister in-law Ray and Gail Barnhart. He will be forever missed by his grandchildren Korie (Steve) Lo Stracco, Ken Kinsella, Katie Stewart, Krissy Kinsella (Ian), his great-grandchildren Giacomo Lo Stracco, Tricia, Ashley, Amber Kinsella, Megan, Morgan, Madilynn Stewart, Jason, Heidi Chisholm and soon to be great great grandbaby Ellison. He will be missed by many extended family and friends. Ken grew up in Fort Erie and Crystal Beach and was fondly known as Barney to the Elm St. gang. Ken served in the Korean war and was the recipient of an ambassador for peace award. He was honoured this past Christmas with an award by the Fort Erie legion for his contributions to the preservation of Fort Erie history. Ken was a founding member of the underwater recovery unit. He donated many artifacts including the anchor that sits at Waterfront Park in Crystal Beach. Ken’s family would like to express a sincere thank-you to the home care nurses, DMH staff and nurses Christine, Jackie, Marlene, Robin, Rebecca and to Dr Scher for their compassion and constant care of Pa at a time when family could not be with him. Funeral arrangement have been entrusted to Williams Funeral home. Arrangements will take place at a later date when family and friends can be together. Don't worry Pa, we will shut the door.
