So sorry to hear of the passing of Gord, Janice. It was only a few years ago that I saw you both when back visiting in Hamilton and Gord shared some photos of when he was living on the west coast and we attended a concert together in Vancouver. I remember him best from the Ryan Street Arena days in Victoria when the gang often stopped in Vancouver and overnighted on our living room floor on their way to or from Hamilton & Victoria. Rest in Peace Gord.

Late one afternoon I was attacked by 3 school yard bullies because of my dark skin. Gord was the only other person still in the playground. We knew each other, but not well. I was punched in the face a couple of times but was too frightened to fight back. When Gord saw what was happening he jumped right in. He had no thought for his own safety. They turned on him, three against one, but somehow he managed to hold his own and didn’t back off until they stopped beating me. We we’re 6 or 7 or 8 years old at the time and the boys were older. I knew even then he was a stand-up guy who didn’t care what I looked like but that I needed help. We became friends for a few years and he never once mentioned what he’d done for me. During those youthful days I never once saw him back down, he always had heart. I always wanted to look him up, but you know how it goes and now it’s too late. I want to offer my sincerest condolences to his family. And as may be the case with others, in my mind he’ll always be young.

Gord and I were neighbors in Ridgeway for a short time, '77-'79 to be exact. He and Janice had just welcomed Brooke into their lives. Myself; I was a passionate road hockey player of 11yrs. old. We used to have a yearly x-mas road hockey tourny w/myself (and my old Ridgeway buddy Stu Berketo) against my two older bro's Mark and Brad. At times when he could join in, Gord would as well, take part. He never forgot to remind us of how great the Detroit and Hamilton Red Wings were. He hated losing but more so, that it was to a couple of 11yr. olds:-)! A solid go-to kinda guy and a passionate family man..Nice knowing you Gord RIP Buddy..your friend Andrew
