Obituary of Frances Merckel

MERCKEL, Frances " Fran" – With great sadness we announce the passing of Frances, in her 92nd year, at Douglas Memorial Hospital in Fort Erie on Monday, September 18, 2017 with her family by her side. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Leonard (1986). Both originally from Kimberley, South Africa, immigrated to Canada in 1967. She will always be in the hearts of her children Nola, Stephen, Ivan (Kathleen), and Robert. Cherished grandmother of Shane, Jodi, Carly and Nicole; as well as six great grandchildren. She will be missed by all family and friends. Frances enjoyed a full life, she lived with purpose, and had a great sense of humour, saw the world, loved tennis, knitting, reading and various other hobbies. We are deeply grateful to all those who took such great care of her in the last chapter of her life. Williams Funeral Home (722 Ridge Rd. N.) has been entrusted with arrangements. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later datefor family and close friends. “Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.”
