Obituary of June Detenbeck

DETENBECK, June Bernice – On Monday July 31st, 2017, June peacefully passed away at Maple Park Lodge, surrounded by family, at the age of 83. Will be sadly missed by all of her family. She is survived by her children Stewart (Julie), David (Rita), Ian (Pamela) and daughter Sherri. Grandchildren Heidi, Alana, Ashley, Tyler, Leah, Kyle, and 7 great grandchildren. Born in October of 1933 in Penetanguishene, Ontario, where she attended school. She later moved with her family to the Fort Erie area where she met her husband of 48 years, Douglas I. Detenbeck who passed in November of 2001. June took the nursing program in Welland Ontario in 1961, which after completion she started nursing at Welland General Hospital until 1963 and then went to Douglas Memorial Hospital retiring in August 1990. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, knitting, boating, cooking and of course, her dogs. Thanks to Dr. Scher and Maple Park Lodge for their compassionate care. Williams Funeral Services, 722 Ridge Rd. N. Ridgeway entrusted with arrangements. The family will receive friends on Friday August 4th after 11 am until service time at 1 pm. Interment to follow at St. John’s United Cemetery. The family asks that in place of flowers, in memory of June, those who wish may donate to Heart & Stroke, Alzheimer’s Society or to the Red Cross.
