Obituary of Edith Mary Bruce

Bruce, Edith Mary Edith passed away peacefully with family at her side June 7th, 2017. She was born, Edith Cashman April 13th, 1926 in Bear River Nova Scotia. There she met and fell in love with her husband of 53 years, Robert Bruce who was training at the Naval Base in Cornwallis Nova Scotia. After the war she moved to Crystal Beach with her husband Robert where they lived and raised their family. Both Edith and her husband Robert were heavily involved in the community. Edith worked for many years for the Village of Crystal Beach and the Town of Fort Erie. After retirement they moved to their cottage on Lake Wasi, near Powassan Ontario where they spent many happy years. Edith is survived by her son, David ( Shirley) Bruce, her Son In Law, Stan Matthews, her sister Phyllis (John) Hill, her Grandchildren, Glenn ( Kim) Matthews, Mark (Callie) Matthews, Kristina Bruce, Kathy (Fraser) Bunn, Her Great Grandchildren, Hailey and Zach Matthews, Jaden and Nathan Matthews and Isaac Bunn, along with many close friends. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Robert Bruce, her daughter, Janet Matthews, her brother Joseph Leo Cashman and her sister in law, Gleneta Cashman. Williams Funeral Services (722 Ridge Rd. N, Ridgeway) has been entrusted with arrangements. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 29th from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm, with a service at the funeral home on Friday June 30th. At 11:00 am. If so desired, contributions in Edith’s name could be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
