Obituary of Fern Martin

MARTIN, FERN ELIZABETH (NEE BARNHART) – On Wednesday, February 22, 2017, Fern passed away peacefully at Crescent Park Lodge at the age of 89. Predeceased by her husband Raymond (Ray). Loving sister of Avis McComb, the late Harold Barnhart, Pearl Ford, Shirley Hopper, Carol Mann, Anita Kiss and Joan and Paul Dunn. Sister-in-law of Doreen and Reg Lawrance. Beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Fern was born in Stevensville, ON, on April 18, 1927. As a young woman, she moved to Toronto, and worked at the Canadian Coleman Company, where she met her husband Raymond. In retirement, Fern and Ray moved back to the family farm in Stevensville. Fern will be remembered for her gentle and compassionate nature, her love of family and neighbors, her deep faith, commitment to social justice, and her delight in all of God’s feathered and furry creatures. Special thanks to staff at Crescent Park Lodge for their kindness and care over the years. Williams Funeral Services, 722 Ridge Road N, Ridgeway is entrusted with arrangements. Family will receive friends on Fri., Feb. 24 at 2-4 and 6-8. The funeral will be on Sat., Feb. 25 at 11 am in the funeral home. Service of committal to follow at Stevensville Brethren in Christ Cemetery. Reception to follow.
