Obituary of Abigail "Abbie" Sider
SIDER, Abigail ”Abbie” (nee Nigh)
Born August 9, 1921 in Kindersley, Sask. Went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 24, 2015. Predeceased by her dear husbands, Freeman Winger (1971) and Jesse Sider (1999). Beloved mother of Muriel vanDonkersgoed (Klaas) and Betty Vandervecht (Homer). Loving stepmother to Ruth Schiedel (Wayne) and the late Anna Mae Fretz, Lamar and Eileen. Cherished by twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Joram and Alma E. Nigh and her siblings and their spouses--Daniel Nigh (Helen), Jennie Byer (Levi), Mayme Gingerich (Emerson) and Joseph Nigh (May). Lovingly remembered by her nephews and nieces. Abbie was an elementary school teacher for 25 years in the Bertie area. She was an active member of the Bertie Brethren in Christ Church, serving as Sunday School teacher. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Spencer, dear friends and loving staff at Maple Park Lodge, Fort Erie for their compassionate support and care in her final years.
Friends may call at The Williams Funeral Home, 722 Ridge Rd. N., Ridgeway, on Tuesday October 27, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Abbie’s life will be held at Church of Niagara (the former Bertie Brethren in Christ), 4943 Church Road, Stevensville, on Wednesday October 28, 2015 at 1 pm, with visitation at the church from 12-1 pm. Interment at Brethren in Christ Cemetery, 4943 Church Rd, Stevensville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brethren In Christ Canada-Global, which Abbie passionately supported.
