Obituary of Rosalie May Noyes (nee Stephenson)

NOYES, Rosalie May (née Stephenson) With deep sadness the family of Rosalie Noyes announces her passing at her residence at Gilmore Lodge on Monday, September 7, 2015, in her 95th year. Rosalie was the fourth of ten children of Alex (“Jimmy”) and Amelia (“Dolly”) (Clarke) Stephenson of Victoria, Carbonear, Newfoundland. While working in St. John’s, Newfoundland she met her beloved husband of 70 years, Howard “Buzzy” Noyes, while he was stationed in St. John’s with the R.C.A.F. They were married in Victoria, her home town, in 1945. Predeceased by infant son, Howard Wesley, three sisters: Irene Gray (Eldon) of Mount Pearl, NF, Annie Clarke (Dave) of Victoria, NF, Dorothy Smith (Harold) of Mount Pearl, NF, two brothers: Jack (Doris) of Nanaimo, BC and Alex (Louise) of Victoria, NF, daughter-in-law Muriel (Boyd) Noyes and grand-daughter Faith Noyes, both of Ballygawley, N. Ireland. Rosalie is survived by sisters Eva Leslie of Webster, NY, Jennie Egbert (John) of Burley, Idaho, and Mary Dawe (Ralph) of Upper Gullies, NF, brother Will Stephenson (Jean) of Victoria, NF, her children: Lester (Cynthia), Rosemary Heipel (Chuck), Roslyn Olsen (Roy), and Lowell, six grandchildren: Andrea McKinnon-Matthews (Jim) of Adelaide, South Australia, Stephen Noyes (Linda) of Ottawa, Jesse Olsen and Daniel Olsen of Fort Erie, Andrew Heipel and Julia Heipel of Kitchener, and two great-grandchildren: Liam and Isabelle McKinnon-Matthews of Adelaide, South Australia. Rosalie will be remembered by the many who knew her for her back yard full of flowers of many descriptions and her many accomplishments and awards as a long-time member of the Ridgeway & District Garden Club, almost 30 years of happy memories with her bowling team the “Happy Gang”, as well as many years of attendance and support at the United Brethren in Christ Church, Stevensville. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 7-9 p.m. A service celebrating Rosalie’s life will be held at the United Brethren in Christ Church, Stevensville, Thursday, September 10 at 10:30 a.m. Private interment at Bertie Brethren in Christ Church Cemetery, Stevensville. In memoriam, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or to a charity of your choice.
