Obituary of Robert Ruch
Robert Henry passed away at Bella Senior Care Residence, Niagara Falls, Ontario on Tuesday September 30th, 2014 at the age of 91. A lifelong Fort Erie resident, he was born on Jan. 12, 1923, before the Douglas Memorial Hospital was built, in a house at the corner of Archange and John Streets. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and mentor. He loved working at Fleet Manufacturing from 1941 to Feb. 8, 1988. He looked forward to going to work every day as he enjoyed the camaraderie of the men and women. He was a member of St.Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ridgeway,and the Rods ‘n Relics car club. “Mr. Bob” is survived by his devoted son Gerald Frederic, his daughter-in-law Phyllis Barnatt, and his dedicated, loving companion Fran Dixon. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (Morry, nee Hucul) in 1991, his mother Clara, his father Henry, and his brother Harold. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements for a private family service are entrusted to Williams Funeral Home, Ridgeway. Deepest thanks for their help and caring is given to Doctors Csanadi, Lagatario and Pang, Bella’s nurses, PSWs and staff as well as the Welland Hospital Dialysis Unit nurses and staff. Special thanks go to Gail Thompson and Marion Foley for their love and support, and to his friends and visitors who brightened his days. A neighbourly thank you to Roly Davis, who predeceased Bob, for keeping an eye out, and always giving a helping hand. “Robert was a true gentleman, unfailingly kind, patient and generous,“ Thompson said. “His was a life well lived.” If desired, donations can be made to the Parkinson Society of Canada, the Kidney Association of Canada or St. Luke’s Building Fund.
