Obituary of James "Jim" Beam
BEAM, James S. “Jim” – Born June 7, 1935, Jim passed away peacefully at Douglas Memorial Hospital on Wednesday May 28, 2014. He was in his 79th year. Beloved husband of Nancy Beam for 30 years. Loving father of Laura (Scott Murchison), Leah (Austin Toth), Bill Beam (Isabel), Janice Nash (Chris), John Haney (Renne) and Terry Haney. Cherished grandfather of Ian & Jeff Murchison, Julianna Toth (Mike Davis), Joshua Toth, Taylor & Connor Beam, Mark Haney, Lee Ann Henderson, Chris Sherren, Blake Nash (Randi Lynn), Xavier Nash, Michael, Natalie, Racheal and Sara Haney.
Great-grandfather of Shayla and Jacob, Tyler, Matthew, Jessica, Ray Ann, Vincent, Peyton and Bentley.
Jim was active in his community and spent time on the Board of Directors for the Stevensville Credit Union, as a Volunteer Firefighter for Station # 5 in Stevensville, on the Board of Directors for the Welland Fair (Niagara Regional Exhibition) and enjoyed square dancing with the “Buttons & Bows”.
Jim retired from General Motors as Chief Union Steward. He was also involved in the Rabies Vaccination Program with the Ministry of Natural Resources.
A sincere thank-you to Dr. Kim Scher, Pat Eberly, Marg Kacer, Puis Zombo and all the nurses that came over to care for Jim. Williams Funeral Services, 722 Ridge Rd. N, Ridgeway entrusted with arrangements. Visitation will be held on Friday May 30th 6-9 p.m. at BENNER FUNERAL SERVICES, 1105 BENNER AVE., FORT ERIE. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at Faith Reformed Church, Stevensville at 11 o’clock. Interment will follow at McAffee Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Douglas Memorial Hospital, Faith Reformed Church or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
