Obituary of Susan Valerie Picano

PICANO, Susan - At the age of 70 years old, after a fierce battle with cancer Susan Picano passed away on Saturday September 7, 2019 surrounded by her family.

Susan Valerie McKearney was born on December 28, 1948 unto Mary Louise McKearney (England) and James Joseph McKearney (Ireland) in Birmingham, England. Susie was the eldest of 7 children; her siblings are Sharon, Shawn, Noelleen, Jimmy (Deceased), Angela & Michael. Sue and her siblings all grew up in both England and Ireland.

In April 1972 at the age of 23 Sue had her first child Lee Anthony McKearney (Christine) and soon after courageously immigrated 3000 miles to Canada to create a better life for family. Sue met the love of her life and future husband in 1974 and they were married in Toronto, ON, in 1975.

In September 1976 they had a baby girl, Julie Ann Picano. In August 1980 James Joseph Picano (Allison) was born. In October 1984 Raymond Patrick Picano was born. They lived in Guelph, Brampton and Ridgeway ON.

Sue was a women dedicated to her family and was blessed with more loved ones to care and nurture for when she had 7 Grandchildren, Kayla (Matt), Devon, Scarlet, Emma, Declyn, Addison & Lucas. Sue was also a loving Aunt to her many nieces and nephews. As well as dearly loved by all of her friends and extended family in New York, England and Ireland.

Throughout her life Susie had touched the hearts of so many people around the world; she was always there to lend a helping hand, a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. She has always displayed an incredible amount of strength and bravery and we as her children and grandchildren are so very fortunate to have these qualities live on in all of us. Susie has always had a love for telling stories and singing to her loved ones. She was an incredible writer and had an amazing gift for poetry. Susie has travelled the world in her lifetime, from England to Ireland and Canada to the US, Jamaica, Mexico, Hawaii and more.

In her life Susie has been a daughter, a sister, a cousin, a niece, a friend, a mother, a wife, a mother-in-law, a grandmother and the glue that has always and will always hold this beautiful family of ours together.

Family and friends are welcomed to attend visitations on Thursday September 12th from 7-9pm and Friday September 13th from 7-9pm at Williams Funeral Home at 722 Ridge Rd North, in Ridgeway, ON.

Funeral Services are arranged for Saturday September 14, 2019 at 11am at Saint George’s Church 56 Ridgeway Rd, Crystal Beach, L0S 1B0.
