Rory Christensen

Obituary of Rory David Christensen

CHRISTENSEN, Rory David – Suddenly at home in Brampton Ontario on Thursday, September 12, 2024, in his 52nd year. Dearly loved in life by his mother Joan Christensen and partner Lauren Chettle. Also mourned by Angelika Zelenovich & Keiryn Lockyer. Loving nephew to Jane & Wayne Lyon of Clinton, Ove & Carol Christensen of Victoria B.C., Karen Christensen of London, and Barbara & John Francis of Caerleon Wales. Predeceased by his father Bjarne Christensen, uncles Henry and Keld, paternal grandfather Erik, grandmother Ellen and step-grandmother Anne of Clinton Ontario, maternal grandmother Miriam Cook and grandfather Walter Cook. Stepson of Camillie Cloutier of Carlsbad California. Missed by his cousins Justin, Brittany, Luke, Laura, Kristine, Allan and Paul. Through several overseas visits he became especially close to Joan's great-niece Sophie Costa. He also leaves many friends, fellow musicians and rink colleagues.

Rory’s passions for music, cooking and making perfect ice will always be remembered by his family and friends. In each, he was a perfectionist, working to make sure that each note, each flavour and each flood was the best that he could create. He chased his musical dream from Toronto to California to New York and back. He always talked about being a cook, not a chef; but every hamburger or salad was gourmet. He disliked heat and found his “cool” in rinks across the GTA. He will be missed.

In acknowledgement of Rory’s wish for simplicity and lack of fuss, cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements entrusted to WILLIAMS FUNERAL SERVICES, 722 Ridge Road North, Ridgeway (Fort Erie). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund of Canada (JDRF Canada), Heart and Stroke Canada or the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
