Obituary of Brian Martin

 

April 21, 1948 – July 27, 2023

 

Peacefully, and with his wife by his side, Brian passed away at home on July 27, 2023. 

He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife of 22 years Elaine McDermott, son Paul Martin (Becky), daughter Andrea Teague, grandchildren Kristopher, Lauren and Leah, brothers Kevin, Dennis (Wendy), Larry (Joyce), and Vincent, sister-in-law Patti McDermott (Rich), sister-in-law Jennifer Gooderham, nieces Elizabeth Gooderham, Chantal Gregory (Jessie), nephew David Gooderham and great nephew Jack as well as many other nieces and nephews and son-in-law Greg Teague.

 

Brian was predeceased by his two infant brothers Joseph and Anthony, parents Frank Martin and Helen Obermeyer-Martin, and mother-in-law Edna McDermott and father-in-law Ernie McDermott.

 

Brian was a well-known businessman in the Fort Erie area as the owner of Royal Customs Brokerage for over 30 years.  As an avid golfer, woodworker and fisherman Brian made many close friends along the way whom he cherished and who cherished him.  In his spare time, he would often have up to 7 books on the go and built up quite the collection over the years.  Recently, Brian got his 3rd degree with Palmer Masonic Lodge #372 A.F.& A.M., which he valued and was very proud of.  There will be a Masonic Service on Monday evening at 6 p.m. 

 

Williams Funeral Services, 722 Ridge Rd. N. Ridgeway entrusted with arrangements where visitation will take place on Monday July 31st, 2023 from 2-4pm and from 6-8pm.    The funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023 at 11am with a short visitation period beginning at 10am.  Interment will follow at Ridgeway Memorial Cemetery after that, friends and family will gather at Bridgewater Country Club for a time of celebration and refreshment. 

 

In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation and/or The Kidney Foundation of Canada in Brian’s memory.
