Dear Darcy and family, I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of Arnold. Truly a shock when I discovered this news. Tonight I have so many vivid memories of Arnold as one of his former pastors. Without a doubt, one fact was always clear to me, his love for you and his boys. When I would speak with Arnold, as he was on the church board, no matter what we were talking about, without a doubt, the conversation always came back to yourself or the boys. His love for each of you was unwavering and so very evident to me. I am also reminded that having Arnold on the church board was such a blessing in thinking back tonight. I recall his grin, dry humour, and silly jokes. I am also thinking tonight about the Faith Tabernacle cafe; before the room was converted into the cafe that is there now, it was one messy underutilized room. Perhaps many at the church would not know, but Arnold truly helped me the most with the painting and drywalling and sanding. Arnold spent countless hours figuring out the lighting for the room and taking the old beams in the ceiling, and converting them to the lovely round version of the beams in the room now. Next time folk are in the cafe, look up, and you will see Arnold's craftmanship, including the beautiful paint on the wall and ceiling. We indeed shared many stories and jokes high above on the scaffolding as the ceiling was being painted. Further, next time folk are in the cafe, if they look over in the far corner, look at the beautiful cabinets installed, each one of them installed by Arnold, including the countertop. Perhaps my fondest memories of Arnold are visiting him well he was in the hospital after the transplant. I still recall getting the call that Arnold needed an operation after just landing in Ottawa sitting on the tarmac of the Ottawa airport. But I remember visiting Arnold on the atrium high above the city skyline in Toronto. Even though he was weak from surgery weeks before, he still managed to share humour with me and relayed a joke about some farmer's pig. I wish I could recall the joke now, but we sure did laugh; in fact, he laughed hard and found it rather painful after surgery. I will cherish that day, as we talked about the farming and his crops, the weather and of course, the Lord, his faith and his cherished family. My sincerest condolences Darcy and family. Dear Darcy, Kaleb, Abby & Joel,
Like everyone else, I am still in shock, having learned that Arnold passed away! What a dear and precious young man he was!!! Arnold was always -- kind, polite, thoughtful, helpful, friendly, and had a big smile! He was the true definition of a "gentle"-man. You Darcy, and Arnold both -- trained the boys early, in the "way they should go". What an example to us all!!!
I realize that Arnold is now in perfect peace, in the very presence of Jesus Himself ... so for that, I am most gratefully thankful.
My heart goes out to you and the boys (young men now), Darcy. I am so very sorry for your heartbreaking loss. Arnold will be sorely missed by everyone. But especially by you, his family.
Please know that you are in my -- prayers, in my thoughts, and in my heart. My love to you all!
God Bless you, as He helps guide you through this extremely difficult time.
With love and Blessing in Him, Brenda Hurley
