Obituary of Barbara Ann Nigh

Barbara Doan Nigh, age 73, died peacefully at Douglas Memorial Hospital after courageously battling cancer for 24 years. 

Married 56 years to David Nigh and greatly loved by her son, Richard Nigh (Janine) and daughter Lori Nigh Vaughan (Samuel) and adored by her grandchildren: Jordan, Emily, Daniel, Emma and Ryan.  Barbara will also be sadly missed by brother Barry Doan (Sue), along with several nephews’ nieces and cousins.

Barbara was an amazingly generous person that dedicated her life to others’ happiness. She loved her family and friends immensely and with every moment shared with Barb you knew she gave a little piece of her heart.

Barb married her teenage sweetheart and enjoyed 56 years of marriage.  Professionally, Barb spent many years as a hairdresser then working in the office for Cherry Hill Golf course, where she became great friends with many of the staff. She loved to travel and spent several winters enjoying warm weather and walking the beaches looking for shells.  Barb loved planning trips and it was one of her greatest joys to arrange trips that included her children and grandchildren. She happily checked Disney and staying in a mountain house in Gatlinburg off her family trip bucket list. 

Her laughter and dimpled smile were never overshadowed by the long battle that she had with cancer.  She never allowed sickness to slow her down and keep her from enjoying life to the fullest.  She will be greatly missed by all that knew her and loved her.
