I am Lois Jean Sider, a single woman, and a first cousin of Norman, and just one year younger than he was. When I retired from missionary service in Africa, I found out that Norman was living in an apartment on Denistoun Street in Welland. I was living in Wainfleet township, and I began having telephone conversations with Norman. As children we had played together, so it was good to catch up.
As time went on, I developed back pains that caused me to start taking a monthly visit to Welland to the chiropractor. This resulted in Norman ( a single man, and my first cousin ) and I beginning to go out for lunch once a month. At first we went to Zellers lunch room. Then Zellers closed their store, and we started going to Fonthill to "The Lazy Loon". Since I was the driver, I arranged my appointment for around 10:00 or 10:30, and I would pick him up at 11:00 to drive to Fonthill. Recently, "The Lazy Loon" closed, and we have been visiting several different restaurants in Fonthill. Now, whenever I go to Welland for my chiropractor appointment, I will miss Norman and think of him. I will miss the talks we had together, and miss the monthly visits to the restaurant.
