Obituary of John M. Plyley

Plyley, John M. Passed away peacefully at Niagara Falls General Hospital Monday September 2, 2019 at 88 years of age. Predeceased by his beloved wife Gwyneth, and brother Donald (Marg). Loving father of David and Carl,and Grandfather of Glenn (Lauren) and Jon (Allysia) and super proud Great Grandpa to their daughter Madison. He graduated from the U of T in 1953 as a Civil Engineer, and with brother Donald managed Ridgemount Quarries LTD. After the sale of the quarry he worked with Proctor and Redfern and with SAT conveyors. John was a distinguished member of Dominion Lodge 615 AF & AM where he served as Master in 1965 and 1969. He also served Niagara B District as District Deputy Grand Master in 1978. He was past Most Wise Sovereign of the Niagara Chapter of Rose Croix in the Niagara Valley of Scottish Rite and was coroneted to the 33rd Degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in 1992. John was a proud and active member of the Ridgeway Lions Club for many years and served the community on the Fort Erie Hospital Board, as an Administrator at the Lions Seniors Complex in Ridgeway, the Lake Shore Management Commission, and too many others to mention. Williams Funeral Services, 722 Ridge Rd. N. Ridgeway entrusted with arrangements. Family will receive friends on Thursday Sept 5, 2019 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. A Masonic service will be held at 6:30 pm Thursday evening. A service to celebrate John’s life will be held at St. John’s Stevensville United Church, 14789 Sodom Rd, Niagara Falls, on Friday Sept 6, 2019 beginning at 2 pm. Burial to follow in churchyard. In lieu of flowers donations to the St. John's Stevensville United Church would be gladly accepted.
