Obituary of Charles Ramsay
Charles Stuart Ramsay, October 2, 2018 in his 93rd year, son of Lt-Col. and Mrs Kenneth Alan Ramsay (Jean Elisabeth Kidd). When Charlie’s father was hired for construction of the QEW the family settled in Grimsby. Upon graduating from the University of Toronto at the age of 20 with a degree in chemical engineering Charlie took up employment in Montreal where he met and in 1949 married Marion Wedderburn, which was the making of him. Having worked in positions of increasing responsibility in Dartmouth, Port Credit and Don Mills Charlie retired from Texaco Canada in 1986 as vice-president of Human Resources. By 1995 he had earned a degree in fine art history. In 2007 he settled in Stevensville with Marion, who survives him. Predeceased by his son Rev. Kenneth Alan Ramsay, he is also survived by three children, Tom, Jim and Janet, three daughters-in-law, Linda, Cathy and Brenda as well as grandchildren Mike, Elizabeth (Mrs C. R. Hayes), Andrea (Mrs J. P. McLachlan), Jean, John and Joseph Ramsay, great grandchildren Thomas and Tyler Ramsay, Daisy, Ella, Charlie and Benjamin Hayes and Ivan McLachlan, step grandchildren Leanne Benner, Gerald Benner and Katherine Carver and step great grandchildren Henry, Charlie and Olive Benner, Jack Benner and Jordan and Haley Carver. Visiting at Williams Funeral Home in Ridgeway on Thursday October 4, 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Friday October 5, 11 am at Faith Reformed Church in Stevensville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Church.
