Obituary of Ella Taylor
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ella (Sheppard) Taylor on July 26th, at the age of 93. She passed away peacefully at Port Colborne Hospital, with her loving husband of 70 years, Don, at her side. Ella was born on February 7, 1925 in Sunnyside, Newfoundland, daughter of Hugh William and Rebecca Sheppard. She left her home to serve in the Canadian Air Force in 1943. Stationed in Vancouver B.C., it was here that she met and married the love of her life, Donald. Together they began all their life adventures, moving to Ontario to raise their children. She was a greatly loved Mother and a very special woman. She touched the hearts of all who knew her. She will always be missed by her six children: Darlene Corbett (Robert), Diana, Donna Kalailieff (Ted), Denise Maracle (late Larry), Scott (Helen), and Donald (Patti). Ella was also the proud grandmother of fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her a brother, Hugh Sheppard of St. Catharines and a sister, Minnie Smith of Sunnyside as well-as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ella was predeceased by brothers Wilfred and Eugene and her sisters Irene and Dorcas. Special thanks to the Palliative Care nurses of Port Colborne Hospital for the kind and compassionate care that you all gave her. A celebration of Ella's life will be held on September 15th at 1 pm at St. Jame's Anglican Church on Charlotte St. in Port Colborne, with a reception to follow. Donations may be made to the St James/Brendan Anglican Church, “Bless the City Project” where a stone will be placed in her memory http://www.blessthecity.ca/donate.html
