I first met Joan when she played for my Mother's funeral in July 1991. I was struck by her beautiful piano playing and her graciousness. It was the beginning of a special friendship while she lived in Fort Erie. I have her first calligraphy piece that she did with gold leaf on black. I had asked her to do a special poem for me and when she said it was ready, she showed me the traditional English type picture, and then showed me the one on black. There was no question which I chose. She asked to take it to her calligraphy guild in Toronto and they all wanted to buy it - of course it was not for sale!! I also have a special bookmark which I use every day that she made for me after an event we did together. It was also a joy to have her play for me when I sang a solo or two at her church. Music brought us together, but God's love kept our friendship together. She will always continue to have an impact on my life and on my music.
Please accept my deepest sympathy as you mourn the passing of such a wonderful lady - wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. May it be a comfort for you to know that she is with her Lord and Saviour whom she loved and served.
