Obituary of Charles Allen Robert Owen

Charles Allen Robert Owen – March 3rd, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Charles (Chuck) Owen, age 74, at the Hamilton General Hospital on Sunday March 3rd, 2024, due to complications of bypass surgery.

Loving husband to Eleanor (Bysterbosch) and father of Michael Owen (Joanne) and Melody Holdsworth (Andrew). Extremely proud and loving grandpa to Edie and Eliza Holdsworth.

Chuck is predeceased by his parents, Marcella and Ronald Owen, father-in-law Gary Bysterbosch, brother-in-law Ron Stevens and sister-in-law Linda Owen.

Chuck is survived by sisters, Shirley Campbell (UK), Marie Predote (Richard), Debbie & Becky Owen, Tracy Owen (Kenny), Lorie Gingras (Donald) and his brother, Ronnie Owen. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.

Chuck spent 36 years working for Atlas Specialty Steels till their closing in 2003 in various departments, and finally as a metallurgist in the met. lab.

Chuck’s great passion was football season and the love he had for his team, the Minnesota Vikings. The great times he had travelling around the U.S. to various stadiums with his football buddies on their excursions. He did regret that he could not see them win a Superbowl in his lifetime.

His other passion was music. He deeply loved Bob Dylan and numerous bands from the 70’s and 80’s. Also numerous concerts that he attended, to many to mention.

His later years were spent enjoying having coffee with his fellow retirees.

Our family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the cardiac unit of Hamilton General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

A celebration of life is planned for late June. Information will be posted on Facebook at a later date.
