It was an honour and a pleasure to have known John for several years at The Woodlands School in Mississauga and later, after retirement, at the Woodlands’ annual male retiree retreat in cottage country. John was kind and gentle with the students he counselled, and a sensitive friend and a life-long learner who loved to discuss history, philosophy, science, and the universe. My sincere condolences to John’s family and close friends. May the knowledge of John’s positive effects on others’ lives bring comfort to you at this time. Love, Alan Hirsch
