Obituary of Ann Marie McLeod

McLEOD, Ann

After a life well-lived and loved, Mom passed away peacefully on Thursday December 4 at Douglas Memorial Hospital, Fort Erie in her 96th year.

She was born in Buffalo, NY, the only child of Hobart and Bertha (Brereton) Forrester. They moved to Fort Erie where Mom grew up from an early age. After graduating from high school, she started a job as a secretary at Canadian Niagara Power Co., where she met a handsome employee named Jack McLeod. They went on to celebrate 59 years of marriage, until he passed in 2012.

Her life was devoted to her family and her Anglican faith. After raising the 3 of us, Mom had a second career as a school bus driver which she loved and still shared stories about. Of course, her true talents were in her amazing knitting, quilting and paintings. Her many projects will be treasured in our homes for years to come.

She was pre-deceased by her parents and her loving husband John (Jack McLeod).

She is survived by her 3 beloved children, Carol Farnan (Gary), Karen Huffman (Pat) and Stuart McLeod (Dee).

She is also survived by her loving grandchildren; Kristen (Bryan) Leveille, Amy (Matthew) Higgins, Michael Everett, Kevin (Corey) Hall, Justin (Andrea) Hall, Sarah McLeod, and Andrew McLeod.

Her 9 great-grandchildren delighted her at every visit.

We sincerely thank her amazing caregivers over the last few years, especially her nurse Elizabeth, the kind, caring Staff at Douglas Memorial Hospital, and her wonderful physician, Dr. Kim Scher, an angel on earth.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to All Saints Anglican Church.

Williams Funeral Services have been entrusted with arrangements. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday December 9th, 2025, at 11 am at All Saints Anglican Church located at 149 South Mill St., Ridgeway. A reception will follow.

Her wings were ready, but our hearts were not.
