Obituary of Milica Misetich

Mili Misetich

March 22, 1927 -July 19, 2025

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mili Misetich of Point Abino in her 98th year.

Mili passed away comfortably at Douglas Memorial Hospital in Fort Erie, surrounded by family.

One of 12 children, Mili was born in Vašarovići, Bosnia and Hercegovina, a small village in the former Yugoslavia. She immigrated to Canada in 1962.

Predeceased by her loving husband, Tony Misetich (1989), and 10 of her siblings, she leaves behind her two daughters, Ann and Tonka, sister Delfa, and many nieces and nephews.

Mili was a devoted wife and mother. She loved children and was an amazing Mom, treating her daughters’ friends like her own, making her home her daughters’ friends’ favourite for weekend sleepovers. Good food and fun was guaranteed.

She loved all animals, including the cute wild animals and beautiful birds that visited the property, and her many pets over the years that she cherished. Kitties Bella Boo, Boris and Boone miss her terribly.

She was passionate about gardening, generously sharing fresh vegetables from her garden (along with homemade canned veggies, wine and sauerkraut) with friends and neighbours, planting many colourful flower gardens on her property, and helping her neighbours make Point Abino beautiful with colourful flower gardens.

Mili loved going for local drives to the Crystal Beach waterfront park or to local cafes for a coffee, and loved travelling, including day trips to Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the Lake, trips to Toronto to visit friends, to Ottawa for the annual tulip festivals, and trips to Hercegovina and Croatia to visit family and friends who loved her.

She will always be remembered as a happy, loving and caring Mom, friend and neighbour. She was one of a kind and will truly be missed.

In keeping with Mili’s wishes, a private family funeral will be celebrated. Williams Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.

Mili and her family are thankful for the care and compassion shown by Dr. Scher and palliative care staff at Douglas Memorial. Friends may send condolences, share stories, request a mention at a Roman Catholic Mass, or make a charitable contribution to the Niagara Health Foundation via www.niagarahealthfoundation.com or the Fort Erie SPCA via www.forteriespca.ca

We love you and miss you Mom.
