Bob served in the Royal Air Force, 2nd T.A.F. Germany, stationed on the Isle of Sylt from 1956 - 1959, and earned his pilot's license at White Waltham Airfield in 1955. He recertified his pilot's license in St. Catharines after his retirement in 2001. He was employed at Fairthorpe Cars, Chalfont St. Peter building and racing hand built sports cars.

He immigrated to Canada in the 1965 and embraced a life full of creativity, adventure, and camaraderie. Bob was a partner at Hamilton Typewriter and Office Products (1978 - 1993) and owner of Napier Thomas and Brion.

Bob had a passion for woodworking, British cars, old motorcycles, parachute jumping, music, and the arts.

He found joy and fellowship in many community groups, including the Niagara Men's Chorus, Niagara Police Chorus, The Reeds Harmonica Band, Parkway Artist Group, The Fort Erie Arts Council, #6 RAF Dunnville, The Beachcombers of Ridgeway Dart League, and his Monday Art group at the Fort Erie Lions Senior Centre.

He enjoyed travelling the world and experiencing different cultures with his pint of Guinness and local craft beers of the region.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 27 from 1-4 p.m. at the Fort Erie Legion, Branch 71, 130 Garrison Road, Fort Erie. All are welcome to attend and share their memories of Bob. Music will be provided by the Max Hillier Band. In honour of Bob's vibrant spirit, guests are invited to wear a Max Hillier t-shirt, or one that reflects a personal joy-perhaps a favorite vacation spot or cherished antique car.
