
Obituary of Douglas James Baker-Smith

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Douglas 'Douggy' James Baker-Smith. He was taken too soon at the age of 31, on Saturday May 31st, 2025 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital with his loved ones by his side. He will be forever missed by the love of his life Jacey Bacon, his proud parents Darryl Smith (Marielle) and Lynette Baker, and his adoring siblings Terrie Lynn Smith, Daniel Baker (Janine) and John Smith. Douglas is also grieved by his grandparents June and Robbie Robinson, and his nieces and nephews Morgan, Taylor, Matthew, Hayle, Jacob and Addy. He was predeceased by his grandparents Wayne Baker, Irean Smith and Clarance Smith.
Douglas will be remembered for his sense of humour, always cracking jokes. He was the life of party, he loved to sing and dance. He also loved hockey, drawing, gaming, hiking and enjoyed his career as a Foreman at Savage Garden Landscaping. Douglas achieved his BA of Political Science from Brock University, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Toronto. He also worked with the Crown Attorney's office in Hamilton. He was proud of his accomplishments.
Friends are invited to visitation at Williams Funeral Services, 722 Ridge Road N in Ridgway on Thursday June 5th from 4 pm to 7 pm. A Funeral Service will take place Saturday June 7th at 11 am at All Saints Anglican Church, 149 S Mill Street in Ridgeway followed by a reception at Ridgeway Kinsmen Hall, 2973 Hyman Avenue. Donations may be made to the Fort Erie SPCA, and would be appreciated by his family.
