Obituary of Ethel Irene Putman
Putman , Ethel Irene (nee Hawkins)
Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma and great grandma (GG) – a woman who loved well and was well-loved. It is with great sadness that we announce that Ethel Irene Putman passed away with family by her side at the Niagara Health -Welland Hospital on April 10, 2025 in her 100 th year, just two months from her 100 th birthday. Ethel was the fourth of five children born on June 20,1925 to Samuel & Alta Hawkins. The beloved wife to the late Hershell Putman, cherished mother to eleven children: Don (Betty), Linda (late Harold) Sider, Gerry (Gail), Sheila Pirson, Brenda Putman, Teresa Putman, and Pam Putman and predeceased by her daughter June (late Keith) Lofthouse, Beverlie Baker( Tom), Edward Putman and Kenneth (late Diane) Putman. Cherished grandmother to 29 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. Predeceased by her granddaughter Tara Whillier. She was also predeceased by her siblings Samuel, Bert, Emma and Vera. Ethel was a quiet woman of strong faith/warrier and patience and was loved so much. She loved hymns and singing. She sang Alto when she sang with Dad and family years ago. She would often be heard humming hymns even after being bedridden the last while. Humming seemed to help her cope and gave her comfort. She genuinely cared for others and was the forever hostess in years previous. Mom always loved having her family around her, baking and certainly had a tender spot for her grandchildren and always had a smile for them. She experienced polio as a young child, she had a walking impediment but it did not stop her from raising her children and working outside of the home for a few years as a house cleaner. Mom you can finally dance with red high heeled shoes now. God blessed our family with Mom for this many years but we still feel like her leaving was too soon. We take solace and comfort that she is not in pain any longer and she was welcomed into Heaven by her Loving Heavenly Father and reunited with Dad and family. Visitation for friends and family on Wednesday April 16, 2025 at Williams Funeral Services, 722 Ridge Road N, Ridgeway. ON from 6:00 - 8:00 pm A funeral Service will held on Thursday April 17, 2025 @ 11:00 am at Trinity Life Church, Sherkston with visitation starting at 10:00 am. Isaiah 40:31
They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.
