OBITUARY GERALD FREDERIC RUCH

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family and friends of Gerald Ruch announce his passing on November 11, 2019 at St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 72. He was predeceased by his mother, Morry (Mary) (1991), his father Robert ( 2014) and his lifelong friend, Marion Foley (2018). In 2017 he lost his beloved partner of 35 years, Phyllis Barnatt, a respected journalist and esteemed professor of journalism at Niagara College. Gerald was called to the bar in 1977.  He maintained a lifelong connection and commitment to his community and served on the board of a number of local service groups.  He was kind and generous with his time and could be counted on to offer practical and realistic advice and legal counsel. He leaves behind his cousins and their families and many devoted friends who were his extended family, including his law clerk of 41 years, Gail. Cremation will take place.  At Gerald’s request, there will be no visitation.
