Shelley Hucul posted a condolence
Friday, February 7, 2020
Dear Aunt Fran,
I just learned of my Cousin Gerry's death, tonight, 15 minutes ago.
Gerry was a big part of my childhood and over the decades, we visited each other, a number of times, or called or wrote. I tried leaving messages for him, after Phyllis died, and last year, but I assumed he was going through some difficult times and couldn't talk.
In 1992, Gerry showed me where our cousin, was buried, (Greg Dixon) and his mother (my Aunt Flora - Cindy, was near him.) As Uncle Bill Hucul would say, "this country is just far too big & we have far too little money...." And I remember your visit to Salmon Arm to the Hucul farm, very well; I was delighted to connect with you, although it was a short trip and had been a long time, since I’d last seen you.
I hope you are doing alright and are healthy and happy.
I hope you can receive this note. I will leave my email address, in case somebody here knows how to contact you. Thinking of you and sending love to you and your family (Two of the children, I remember from the 1960’s when we were children.
All the best, with love, Shelley (Hucul), Salmon Arm , BC

I am deeply sadden by the passing of Gerald. I had the pleasure to know Gerald, through my best friend Phyllis Barnatt. Phyllis and I were friends since our Brock University years. I remember Gerald with fondness, for his quick wit, kindness, professionalism, working hard, generosity, understanding, loving care he gave Phyllis through her own health battles, caring for his parents, enjoying his father's vintage cars, time for a good meal and best of all, his expertise on the golf course. For me, Phyllis and Gerald, will always be remembered as a loving couple but as individuals,, unique in their own way. How fortunate we are, the ones who have walked in friendship with them in the past and in our memories.
